Pure Potent Hemp Farm

We would like to share with what goes into cultivating our CBD hemp flower which is used to manufacture our products. First, we had to secure proper state license to be fully complaint with all state and federal regulations. After that, we had to find land with nutrient rich soil that has not been contaminated by herbicides, pesticides, and heavy metals. Hemp is considered a “bio-accumulator” in which it absorbs heavy metals and other chemical waste from the soil. This property is great to help clean the environment but when cultivating for CBD oil it should be avoided because it will taint the oil.
We were fortunate to find great land on the river bottom of the Delaware River in New York that was certified organic for years. The river is fed by the mountain spring water of the Catskills mountains. Our soil and water went through rigorous testing to make sure everything was pollutant free and fertile. With the fertility test we can see what nutrients and pH are needed for the hemp plants to thrive. Next, we had to prepare for planting by making raised beds, installing filtered irrigation system, and laying down weed barriers. We do this to give our hemp plants every advantage to grow vigorously and flourish.
We built our greenhouses to raise our seedling and harden them to survive the outdoors. We use organic soil to fill our seed trays with seeds that have been R&D for years by the most respected seed companies with the must sought out strains. In about 4 weeks the seedlings are ready to be transferred but we must follow the weather to make sure we don’t get hit with frost at night or early morning that could kill our baby plants (seedlings). We use a water wheel planter to do all our planting and have someone walk behind to make sure every plant gets the attention it needs. We use our irrigation system to feed and water our plants. We only use organic fertilizers to feed our plants and to stay complaint with organic certification we received from NOFA of New York. We keep an eye for pests and we also search for male plants. We remove all male plants before they can spread their pollen and cause female plants to produce seeds. When a plant is producing seeds, it takes away from CBD production and effects the yield of the harvest. We counter pests by keeping our plants strong and introduce predator bugs to keep pest populations at bay.
Depending on the strain’s maturity rate, we get ready to harvest around the end of September. This is when thing get very labor intensive. To harvest our crop in a timely fashion while the plants are nice and ripe, we hand harvest everything in two categories. We dry our biomass (whole plant) in hemp dryers and we hang dry our flower tops in an indoor facility. In our indoor facility we can control humidity and temperature at ideal settings for drying and curing. We believe half the battle in cultivating quality flower is the drying and curing stages.
We watch every step to ensure quality and integrity of all our ingredients in Pure Potent products. We pay fair wages to all our employees and participate in our local communities. We crop rotate and follow other recommendations from NY Agriculture and Cornel University.
We hope you found this informative and you can follow us on social media @purepotentcbd to see us in action. Our season starts in May and finishes in November.
